Registration closes for
Glendale voters in the 43rd Assembly District have until the close of day Monday to register for the special election to choose a successor for Paul Krekorian. Krekorian was elected to the Los Angeles City Council. There are four candidates on the ballot to succeed him in the April 13 election.
Running are Democrats school board member Nayir Nahabedian, frequent candidate Chahe Keuroghelian, attorney Michael Gatto and small business owner Sunder Ramani, a Republican.
If no one receives 50%-plus one vote, there will be a runoff.
L.A. Board of supervisors
The L.A. board of supervisors Tuesday renewed a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a hit and run driver responsible for the death of Montrose resident Joo Lee.
Lee was crossing Montrose Avenue Jan 1 when he was struck by a vehicle, throwing him approximately 70 feet. The striking vehicle, identified as a large black or dark SUV, fled the scene. Lee was taken to the hospital for treatment and was listed in critical condition for several days. On Jan. 6 he succumbed to his injuries.
A similar reward has been offered by the city of Glendale. Anyone with information is asked to call (800) 222-TIPS or 535-1958.
City design boards approve
The city’s design review board number 1 voted at a recent meeting to approve the addition of 840 square feet to a home at 3759 Los Amigos in the Dunsmore neighborhood.
Following the recent trend of adding to small local homes, the addition will bring the total size to 1795 square feet, plus an attached one-story garage. The addition will be to the rear of the house, and the overall one-story height will remain the same.
The other design review board approved a project for 321 Mesa Linda Road. The owners, Tom and Estella Hamilton, wanted to convert an existing garage into a master bedroom and build a new garage on the west side of the house. Nine oak trees will be protected through approved mitigation measures.
The design review board approved the project.
