Conversation Planned on Religious Extremism
La Cañada Presbyterian Church and Islamic Congregation of La Cañada-Flintridge are co-hosting a community forum on religious extremism on Sunday, March 6 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at La Cañada Presbyterian Church, 626 Foothill Blvd. in Fellowship Hall of the Demarest Family Life Center.
Moderated by Dallas Raines, chief meteorologist at KABC-TV and La Cañada Flintridge resident, the panel will include two Muslim and two Christian speakers, all with Southern California roots and experiences addressing religious extremism and fostering community solutions. The panel will present for 60 minutes followed by 30 minutes of questions from the audience with dessert and conversation to follow. C.E.R.T. Classes Begin
Crescenta Valley’s Community Emergency Response Teams (C.E.R.T.) coordinators Paul and Lisa Dutton will be hosting classes that begin Saturday, March 5 at the CV Sheriff’s Station at 4554 Briggs Ave. in La Crescenta. Subsequent classes are on Tuesday, March 8, Wednesday, March 9 and Thursday March 10 with testing and graduation on Saturday, March 12.
C.E.R.T. is an all-inclusive training to teach people how to take care of themselves, family and community when disaster strikes.

CV Alliance Strategic Partners Meeting

Fundraiser to Benefit Library and CVTC
The Friends of La Crescenta Library and the Crescenta Valley Town Council are hosting a joint fundraiser, A Literary Evening on March 12. The event is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the La Crescenta Woman’s Club, 4004 La Crescenta Ave., La Crescenta.
Eight authors are expected to present their books and will also be available throughout the evening for book signings and sales. Tickets are available for $20 and may be purchased at the La Crescenta Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta.
