2200 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, a woman reported that as she was leaving TJ Nails, she noticed two unoccupied white compact sedans parked very close to her vehicle. She opened the door of her car and threw her purse and her daughter’s purse in the vehicle. She then got into the driver’s seat and, as she was attempting to close the car door, a man wedged himself in between the door and the vehicle. He is described as Asian, 5’7″, weighing 160 pounds with short black hair, brown eyes and clean shaven. He was in his 20s. The woman was unable to close the door.

The man then leaned in toward her and said, “Give me your bag.” She said “What?” and he repeated himself. He became more forceful with his voice with each exchange. She talked louder in hopes someone would hear her. He then leaned in and told her he had a knife. He took the knife and began to rub the blade against her forearm. The man leaned across her and grabbed the strap of a purse. The woman began yelling. The strap of the purse broke and the man fled the area.

The attempted robbery occurred at 5 p.m.
