Overnight Rescue in ANF

Friday evening Los Angeles County Sheriff deputies responded to the Devil’s Punch Bowl area of the Angeles National Forest regarding a missing hiker call about 6 p.m. A 29-year-old female hiker from Palmdale had reportedly gone on  a hike in the area earlier in the day and had yet to return.

The missing hiker’s vehicle was found at the location, there were no signs of foul play or clues to her whereabouts.

The Antelope Valley Search and Rescue team responded and searched the area. The team located the woman this morning at 1:15 a.m. in the nearby mountains. She was uninjured, the team escorted her to safety.

    Did she not have a phone? And maybe if she did there might have not been any signal. This is why one should always have a buddy. And to top it off I carry my ham radio on outtings like this where the odds of not having cell service are high.
