800 block of Greenridge Drive in La Cañada, a deputy was responding to a call concerning a resident returning home to find her front door open in the 700 block of Starlight Heights. As he was patrolling the area using a searchlight, he noticed two men, a 23- and 27-year-old, both from Pasadena, entering the gate of a residence. Both were wearing black hooded sweatshirts, black gloves and black pants. The deputy noticed a BMW parked directly in front of the home.

He stood behind the front left quarter of the vehicle, drew his gun and told the men to lie on the ground. One complied immediately; the other man hesitated but finally complied. The deputy then looked into the vehicle that he had been using for cover and saw another male, a 27-year-old from Glendale, reclining in the driver’s seat as if attempting to hide. The deputy ordered him to get out of the vehicle and lay on the ground. He complied.

Assisting officers arrived and, after a search of the vehicle, discovered several items including jewelry, electronics and cash. There had been many residential burglaries in the area in recent weeks. The men at first denied knowing each other, but later admitted to being cousins.
