The Ticktockers from the Class of 2013 of National Charity League, Inc., Glendale Chapter, recently brought the holiday spirit to the athletes of the Tri-Valley Special Olympics. With their mothers, the 30 high school sophomores produced a Winter Wonderland on Sunday, Dec. 5 for nearly 300 athletes and their families. The party included a buffet lunch and dessert bar, games, dancing and a visit from Santa Claus. Held at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, the party is an annual event held by the Tri-Valley Special Olympics. In recent years, donations and volunteers to host the party have waned,
so the NCL Class of 2013 stepped in and organized the event.

Ticktockers spent several months planning the party including hosting workshops to make invitations and decorations and creating unique gifts for the athletes. Every athlete walked away with a stocking full of holiday goodies, fun fleece hats, and memories of the festive

The Ticktockers received generous donations from local businesses for food, photo equipment and even DJ skills. Wendy Lorton, regional sports manager for the Tri-Valley and Santa Clarita Special Olympics, was particularly pleased with the event.

“You did an amazing job in every way from the decorations, food, music, Santa, the hats, gifts, photos,” she said to the girls. “Every aspect had love and thought behind it, making it a very special day. There
are not enough words to
express my gratitude to each and every NCL volunteer for
all of their time and hard
