The Knights of Columbus, Crescenta Valley Council 3254, recently held a spelling bee for students of St. Bede the Venerable, St. James the Less and Holy Redeemer parishes in the fourth through eighth grades. Council 3254, chartered in 1949, serves the three parishes in the Crescenta Valley.
The spelling bee, which has been held annually for 19 years, was dedicated this year to the founder of the annual event, Gene Griffin who passed away last year.

Seventh and eighth grade winner was Colin Carr from Holy Redeemer and in second place Michael Sampson from St. Bede.
In grades four through six, the winner was Ashley Schafer from St. Bede and in second place Riley Montilebano from St. James.
