Photos by Kelly MAYES Eugene Crutcher, a representative from All Green Recycling, managed the recent e-waste collection event at Valley View. He and his two coworkers, Paul and Moises, worked nearly non-stop from their arrival at 9 a.m. to their departure at 5 p.m. after loading two trucks and sweeping up the parking lot.

Valley View Elementary School had much to celebrate after hosting an e-waste collection on April 28.

The community came out in force to support the school’s efforts and at the end of the day an estimated 14,305 lbs. of e-waste was collected. The huge haul necessitated a second truck dispatched by All Green Electronics Recycling to take some of the load. Cellphones, laptops, LCD TVs, computer towers, tube TVs, and much more was collected netting Valley View $817.

“We really appreciate all [the] support from the community,” said Valley View parent and collection organizer Kelly Mayes. “Many folks who came by said they’d held on to their items until our collection in hopes of helping to raise money for the school. It worked!”
