The Crescenta Valley High School Jazz Band’s “Spring Fling” brought back the music, and dance, of the 1940s. Saturday night’s event inside the school’s cafeteria had both kids and parents dancing to World War II era dancing styles including the Lindy Hop and the Eastern Swing.
The tunes of Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey – expertly played by the jazz band – had everyone grab a partner and hit the dance floor. There were those who could Swing Dance like they were born at the Savoy, and then there were those who were new to the style. It didn’t seem to matter though as anyone and everyone was laughing, learning and having a great time.
