Taste & Shop Party this Friday from 5 to 7!

This Friday night you must come to the Montrose Shopping Park. In a moment I’ll tell you why.

If you’re a regular reader of this column, you are well aware of Shop & Dine Fridays. Many of our merchants are staying open until 7 p.m. on Friday nights so you can Shop and enjoy the stores. Afterward it’s a natural to want to Dine in one of our many restaurants.

This week we really want to get the word out and encourage you and all of your friends and neighbors to make a night of it and come to Montrose. We have planned a very special evening which will be taking place between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. when the stores are open.

It’s Halloween season and the perfect time to come and meet someone who many of us grew up watching on TV. Ken Weatherwax, the original Pugsley from the hit TV show “The Addams Family,” will be here signing autographs. Kenny comes from an interesting Hollywood family. His brother was the original Porky in “The Lassie Show” and still writes, acts and produces today. His uncle owned Lassie, his dad was Lassie’s trainer and his aunt was Ruby Keeler. You will find Kenny in the 2300 block where several of our stores are now open on Friday nights.

There’s something about live street music that says “vacation,” “a night out on the town.” In the 2200 block, Critters, Walk This Way, Executive Jewelers, Faye’s, Mountain Rose Gifts, Twigs & Things and Lara’s Gifts are some of the stores that are now open on Friday night. To celebrate, we have a special group called The Subs that specializes in mellow, classic rock. Listen to The Subs in the 2200 block as you check out these stores as well as The Clothing Market, Once Upon A Time, Bella, Billy’s Boardshop and Color Me Mine.

If it’s jazz you are after, The Mark Towns Flamenco Jazz Trio will entice you to cross the street and check out the stores in the 2300 block. Opened on Fridays are It Takes A Village, La Perla Design Gallery (who is celebrating its third anniversary), Montrose Candy Co. and Revelation Tops.

As you venture to the 2400 block, stop in Pattye’s Closet and Bellies, Babies, & Bosoms who is trying Friday night for the first time. Uptown Face & Body Care will be offering custom spray tans for $25. Woohoo!

To make things even more fun, we are calling this event “Taste & Shop” because many of the stores will be serving something to taste as you shop. There are lots of cookies and appetizers on the horizon as well as chocolate.

So do plan on coming to the party. We hope to see you this Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for orange lights, fall décor, music, food, Pugsley & fun all in the Montrose Shopping Park.

Mary Dawson serves as vice president for the MSPA board. She and her family own Revelation Tops and Mountain Rose Gifts.
