Be a Part of Making It!

Steve Jobs believed in change, embraced change and created change. The only thing you can count on is that things are going to change. We know the world is changing at an incredibly fast pace. How we live is changing, how we process information is changing and how we do business is changing. So many times we get stuck in such a rut trying to keep things the same that we lose, miss out and fall behind. Don’t let this happen to you or your business.

Now is the time to pursue new opportunities and not get stuck in your comfort zone. You need to keep alert to new opportunities that you can pursue to keep your business relevant. You never know what can happen. Choosing to take an innovative path and think outside of the box can breathe new life into your business. Never be afraid to make changes in your business if you feel you are not getting results.

Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonalds, thought outside of the box when he realized he could be more than just a restaurant chain. He saw that a big chunk of the profits he was making could come from the land on which McDonald’s franchisees were established. In 1956 he set up the Franchise Realty Corporation, which bought land and leased it out to franchisees. The revenues that the company received from the franchisees made it easier for Kroc to raise capital in the financial markets so he could continue to expand. He also used some of the money to create an advertising campaign that revolved around a company mascot – Ronald McDonald.

You can be just as innovative if you are willing to change and look at your situation from all angles. Be flexible and willing to change. Talk to people, read magazines and research your industry to find out what your client is looking for. They need your service, but they just might need to hear it reframed in a different way.     Staying relevant, innovative and open to change will keep you moving forward, even in an economy that is trying to reinvent itself. When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.
