MVCOC: The Best Place for Oktoberfest

This Saturday, Oct. 3, the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 38th Annual Oktoberfest in the Montrose Shopping Park on the 2200, 2300 and 2400 blocks of Honolulu Avenue starting right at noon. We will have everything you have come to know and love about our Oktoberfest as well as some new surprises! Right at 12 p.m. we will have three combo booths open (one on each block). They will be serving beer and brats and other tasty items including those you can find at our snack and pretzel booths that will be open throughout the entire event. Also we will have one German beer booth that will be open right across the street from Citibank. Once you have your food and drink, you can head on over to our main stage located at the corner of Ocean View Boulevard and Honolulu Avenue that features many performances by our local kids. Also starting at noon are performances by Revolution Dance Center followed by many other studios in town.
And, of course, all of our rides and games will be open for you to enjoy. So come down for lunch and enjoy entertainment by the local kids in Montrose! For a full list of our entertainment schedule please log onto www.montroseoktoberfest.com.
Keeping with the Bavarian theme, we will be serving traditional German beer and food. Our 2105 Oktoberfest beers are a diverse group ranging from traditional German Oktoberfest beers to local craft beers to classic American domestic beers. We will be pouring Spaten, Spaten Oktoberfest, Franziskaner Weissbier, Hangar 24 Oktoberfest, Golden Road Hefeweizen, Shock Top Pumpkin, Bud and Bud Light. These beers pair well with traditional Bavarian sausage made by Montrose’s own Schreiner’s Fine Sausages! We will also be serving a traditional German potato salad to complete your German experience.
Besides the Main Stage on Ocean View, we also have three other stages at the event featuring many local bands and acts as well as other bands from the Southern California area. We have brought back from last year many of your favorite bands and some new ones as well. New this year are many local bands that feature artists who either live in the area or their family does. These include Dan Beers, Crioline, Incompletes, Fat Stash Eli Locke, Espresso and Day Trippin’. We love to have local bands at our event because we really love to have local participation! Past Action Heroes, an ’80s cover band with a flair, Bobby Stevens and the Gypsy Boys, Northern Strangers and the German American Brass band will headline each of our stages and close out the night for us. So please join us at noon on Saturday to help kick-off the Oktoberfest celebration!
Oktoberfest has taken place in Montrose for 38 years and has become a family tradition. We are one of the few Oktoberfest celebrations in Southern California and one of the largest. This is an event that the Montrose Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce puts on not only for the community but also to bring people into the area who are not familiar with the wonderful town of Montrose. So please come out and support the Chamber and all the local business in Montrose.
