Last year, a new little shop, Guiding Spirit, opened up on Foothill, one with a different feel to it, one made very obvious when speaking to the owner, Allyson Lee Fogg. Located on Foothill Boulevard at Dunsmore Avenue, this cozy and inviting shop plays host to a number of interesting and unique items, classes and workshops, catering to those looking for something a little different.

“I wanted to create a place that would continue to foster the incredible spiritual community already growing here in the Foothills and, to my absolute delight, I started seeing it happen within the first few months of being open,” said Fogg. She describes Guiding Spirit as a metaphysical shop, with the door reading “Center for Holistic & Intuitive Arts,” carrying stones and crystals, essential oils, candles, tarot and oracle decks, incense, Himalayan salt items, jewelry, teas and chocolate, sage and more. Also offered are several services that include meditation evenings, energy balancing sessions and psychic readings with Fogg, who is also a medium.

This weekend, Guiding Spirit is celebrating its one year of being open, something that Fogg is rightfully proud of. “I am beyond excited and happy for this event,” she said before discussing the details of the upcoming weekend-long festivities, which will feature special local guests including Kriste Messal offering Vibrational Essence waters attuned to each individual, Carol “The Duck Lady” Chrysong with her new residents – twin ducks from Lucky Duck Rescue, and Laney Clevenger’s amazing jewelry creations and wire-wrapping skills from Tye One On. Still others, as well as Fogg herself, will offer mini-tarot and psychic readings, 10-15 minute energy balancing sessions, a chance to spin a Wheel of Fortune and food catered by A Wandering Chef, a new business by Jamie Hurley.

“And don’t forget there will be cake!” Fogg quipped.

The birthday celebration for Guiding Spirit will be held both days of the weekend, Saturday, Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday Sept. 24, from noon to 5 p.m.
