Annual Events Coming Up

“I am always doing that which I cannot do,
in order that I may learn how to do it.” – Pablo Picasso

Past President

The annual Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce Recognition Banquet will take place on Thursday, Oct. 27. The reception and dinner will be held at Angeles National Golf Club. We will be recognizing those who have made outstanding contributions for the betterment of our community.

Over the years the chamber has recognized outstanding individuals, volunteers, businesses and organizations. These men and women represent what this community is comprised of. We also recognize our students, who are our future.

Unfortunately, many of these contributions go unnoticed, not by those who benefit but by the many that take it for granted – it just happened. The recognition banquet is an opportunity for the public to spotlight someone special to the community. Let us know of someone who should be recognized for their efforts or service to the community. The deadline for the nominations is Friday, Sept. 9.

Be sure and join us for our after hours business mixer on Sept. 7 at the Kumon Math & Reading Center. This after-school program is available to students of all ages. Kumon is located at 2754 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta.  Join us between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. and check it out for yourself.

The Tri-Chamber Foothills Community Business Expo will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at Verdugo Hills Hospital from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  The Expo brings together many businesses that display their products or services in one location. Several restaurants will offer samples from their kitchens. Try them all. There is no admission charge for the public to attend.

At the Expo again this year will be free document shredding by RSI Shred. Bring up to five boxes of documents and RSI Shred will destroy them on site for free.

The annual 5K Run/Walk takes places on Saturday, Sept. 24. The event starts at Two Strike Park and finishes there, also. This year, a portion of the proceeds can go to the Crescenta Valley Drug & Alcohol Prevention Coalition and the Rosemont Middle School after school sports program. Participants just need to mention that on their application. For an application, let your fingers do the walking. Just log on to our website, lacrescenta.org. To make it even easier (because you need to rest up before the run), send your fingers to the Paypal button.

In closing, there is nothing that leaves a bigger void in life than the loss of a loving mother. We send our condolences to Rick Dinger and Julia Rabago and their families as they are dealing with this great loss. Please know our thoughts are with you.
