Think Zeke’s & Gelsinger’s Amber Road for Barbecue!
Take a tip from Evan Sickra (left), Zeke’s Smokehouse (2209 Honolulu Ave.) manager, and put some barbecue in your life this Labor Day weekend! Kitchen manager Andrew Godin (front center) recommends their No. 1 dish: Texas beef brisket that’s smoked for 14 hours and then thinly sliced and tossed with their homemade Texas barbecue sauce. It costs just $17.95 with two sides or $11.95 as a sandwich. Add to that a flight of local craft beers, like the new Hanger 24 and Wolf Creek, and you’ve got a party! Personally, I could eat here every night of the week and never get bored. Think baby back ribs, pulled pork, oyster po’ boys, and fried chicken. And guess what? They sell their barbecue sauces to go!
Gelsinger’s Amber Road (2016 Montrose Ave.) manager Kimberly Stewart (right) has created a barbecue basket that is sure to impress your friends. The “Barbecue Master” contains honey/chipotle rub, Kozlik’s dijon mustard, Zeke’s Doggone Good BBQ Sauce, a barbecue mop, butcher’s tea towel and recipe cards. While you’re there, pick up some Gelsinger’s fine meats, all 10% off thru this Saturday, Aug. 30. Of course you can’t walk away without sampling and purchasing their freshly bottled and sealed gourmet oils and vinegars from around the world. Love this place!
