Save the date! Glendale’s Historic Old Town is turning 100. Plan to join us Feb. 22 when we will have a special centennial ceremony in conjunction with the City of Glendale when we can all gather together to take a look back at how Montrose began and celebrate its enduring legacy as  “Main Street USA.”

Over the week of Feb. 18 thru Feb. 22, 2013 Montrose will begin its centennial celebration that will continue all year long! Please plan on joining us. On Jan. 15 a book on the history of Montrose, written by local historian Robert Newcombe, will be released, so make sure you get your copy. Look forward in the coming months to additional information regarding our celebration and all the exciting plans we are making.

We want your pictures. The Montrose Chamber of Commerce is looking for pictures of Montrose. If you have old pictures of the way Montrose has looked since 1913, we would love you to share them with us. Pictures of old homes, stores that no longer exist in the Montrose Shopping Park, the streets before they were paved or anything else you think shows Montrose as it looked in its early days. We want to create a pictorial history of Montrose that we can share with everyone now and well into the future. I know there are many local residents who have pictures and I personally would appreciate them sharing with the chamber. I love history and think one of the greatest gifts we can give the generations to come are the memories that we all carry. Rest assured that all pictures will be returned and they will come back exactly as they were received!

Our next business mixer will be on a special night, Monday, Aug. 27 at Montrose Bakery and Café. Owner Henry Baeza, who has been in Montrose for over 20 years, has just begun serving dinner. He will have samples of all the delicious new things he has to offer and will of course have many of his pastry goods out as well. This will be a fun night in the heart of Montrose and a great way to connect to other businesses in the area.

Oktoberfest 2012 is just around the corner! Haven’t been to Oktoberfest in a while? You need to go. This year we will be offering even more family fun for all to enjoy. We look forward to a great Oktoberfest this year.

Don’t forget: For only $99 you can become a chamber member or renew an outdated membership. Becoming a member ensures your business listing in our 2012-13 directory and a listing in our online digital directory. The directory is a great resource that is used by many people in the community.
