Why You Will Want to Try Montrose Wine & Kabob

Montrose Wine and Kabob is brand new and waiting for you!

Montrose Wine and Kabob is brand new and waiting for you!

You know how I love to write about restaurants and food, especially when I have something new and exciting to report. All I needed to hear from my friends Mark and Wendy was, “Have you tried the new restaurant yet? We did and it’s really good.” So good in fact, that they want to go back with us next time they are in town. Mark and Wendy own property in the shopping park and used to run beloved Country Classics.

My curiosity got the better of me and I decided to check it out. I’m so glad I did! Montrose Wine and Kabob is where Pasta Preziosa used to be. A lot of money was spent to totally remodel everything starting from the outside in. The interior now features rich, warm Mediterranean colors and brand new tables and chairs. Everything is very elegant and all of the tables are set with sparkling wine glasses upon entrance.

Upon being seated we were welcomed by Tina with a complimentary basket of breads and a plate of Danish white cheese, radishes and fresh mint. We ordered the mixed olives platter and babaganush dip to start.

The Mediterranean diet is so delicious and healthy. Chef Rafi’s Babaganush is made with roasted eggplant, garlic, lemon, olive oil and tahini (sesame) sauce. Dipping their fresh pita bread into it was heaven.

Then along came another “on the house” treat, a simple plate of roasted broccoli. Yum! I had never had it prepared this way before. The entrees here are a variety of marinated and grilled meats, poultry, and fish prepared kabob style. My boneless chicken was served with fluffy white rice, a broiled tomato and sliced red onion. The meats are cooked on the kabob but arranged and served off the kabob for a nice, easy to eat presentation. Do try the glass jar of sumac on your table. It is made from the bark of trees in the Middle East and used to season rice and meat. I had never heard of this before and really enjoyed trying something new. My dinner was bliss and I enjoyed getting a “to go” meal out of it.

I wish I had saved room for baklava and Armenian coffee but alas I was plumb full. But not to worry, there will be a next time, and a next.

You must give this place a try. I can’t wait to go back and have dinner on the patio with the little white lights and view of the mountains. To get a taste for what I shared here please visit our blog at www.shopmontrose.com.
