Before his busy Christmas Eve night, in early December Santa took time out to visit the La Crescenta Woman’s Club.
“We probably had about 60 to 65 kids,” said Cindy Charles, LCWC member.
The LCWC, Junior Section annual Breakfast with Santa has been a tradition in Crescenta Valley for about 20 years. This year, children, parents and grandparents enjoyed a hearty breakfast that included eggs, waffles, bacon, sausage and so much more before exercising their artistic side at craft tables where they created their own holiday ornaments.
Firefighters from Glendale Fire Dept. Station 29 were on hand with a hook and ladder for kids to explore and ask questions about.
The LCWC clubhouse was filled with holiday music thanks to the Crescenta Valley High School Charismatics, the school’s a’capella group.
Then of course there was Santa who listened to the children’s wish lists before sending them on their way, happy and with a gold candy coin.
Photographer Skip Rogers took pictures of the guests with Santa, as well as of the event overall. The photos were available for attendees to purchase during the event but for anyone who missed out they can still purchase photos. To view the gallery, visit http://bit.ly/breakfastwithsanta2014.
In addition to being the photographer at Breakfast With Santa, Rogers is also a teacher who needs help for his classroom.
“I am a fourth grade teacher and I use photo ops like the one with the [La Crescenta Woman’s Club] as a fundraiser for technology for my classroom,” he said.
The classroom needs toner for its printer. Students with Rogers are raising funds through the DonorsChoose webpage. The shortcut for the website is http:/bit.ly/2014toner.
The popular Breakfast With Santa event is a major fundraiser for the LC Woman’s Club, said Charles. Tickets were $10 for the breakfast. The funds raised went toward the many organizations and scholarship program the LCWC supports throughout the year.
