On Dec. 5 at the Americana on Brand, NBC4 Southern California awarded the Glendale Humane Society with a $5,000 donation to support the organization’s work to provide care for animals until they are adopted.

Originally founded by volunteers in 1924, GHS is a non-profit, no-kill rescue that relies on the generosity of the community to support its mission. The society continues to rely on a strong base of volunteers to walk, train and socialize the society’s dogs and to interact with their cats. GHS rescues dogs from the area’s high-kill shelters and assumes responsibility for these animals by providing food, shelter, veterinary care, human interaction and love, with the goal of ensuring as many dogs and cats as possible receive a second chance for a forever home.
