The Women’s Club celebrates the holidays with local musicians

By Shana LiVIGNI

On Dec. 9, the Woman’s Club of La Crescenta held its annual Christmas luncheon, a gift to the students of  Rosemont Middle School to enhance its music program.

The Rosemont orchestra, headed by Rod Yonkers, performed classical pieces and traditional Christmas songs having a jolly old time spinning their base fiddles and creating a holiday atmosphere for the audience.

“Our next big activity is our annual rummage sale in January so save your items or bring them to our next monthly meeting Jan. 13,” invited Woman’s Club member Danette Erickson. “We always welcome new members to have fun with us and give back to our community as well. Each year the Woman’s Club gives over $5,000 in philanthropies to local organizations and students besides remodeling our 1924 clubhouse.”

The public is invited to stop by their Christmas party with the Historical Society of Crescenta Valley on Monday, Dec. 21 beginning at 7 p.m. Guests are asked to bring something for potluck and plan to enjoy a casual dinner and holiday evening with the Woman’s Club.

If you have something from Christmases past you are invited to bring it to reminisce and share stories with all.  The Woman’s Club is located at 4004 La Crescenta Avenue in La Crescenta.
