Kiwanis Club of La Cañada member Al Restivo was honored for 40 years of service to Kiwanis and entered into the Legion of Honor by Kiwanis Club President Tom Passanisi at a recent meeting at Descanso Gardens. Restivo joined the Kiwanis Club of Eastchester New York in November 1973 and served as the club’s president in 1981 and 1982. He relocated to La Cañada Flintridge in 1986 to serve as director of Training for Avery Dennison Corporation in Pasadena. He and his wife Diane have been residents for 28 years.
Restivo joined the Kiwanis Club of La Cañada when the club held its meetings at the Brookside Country Club. He was inducted into the club by Kiwanis President Skip Schimbari. Over the years he has served as chairman on the House Committee, the Community Service Committee, and the Human and Spiritual Aims Committee. He currently chairs the Publicity and Human and Spiritual Aims Committees. Before retiring in March 2011, he was chairman of the La Cañada Flintridge Republican Committee. He is a Eucharistic Minister at St. Bede the Venerable Roman Catholic Church as well as at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angeles in Los Angeles. He is past chairman of District 3 of the Professionals in Human Resources Association.
Restivo is an organizational/industrial psychologist. Since 1999 he has taught management and human resource management at California State University, Los Angeles where he is an adjunct professor. He previously taught Organizational Psychology at Azusa Pacific University. He is president of Oaktree Associates and provides life, management/executive and career coaching services to businesses and individuals.
