The Kiwanis Club of Montrose-La Crescenta held a dinner on Nov. 14 to honor local veterans. The honorees included veterans who had served as members of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. The Crescenta Valley High School AFJROTC added to the evening by ceremoniously presenting the flags from each branch of military service.

Lt. Col. David J. Worley introduced his cadets and led the flag salute. Each veteran introduced themself and gave a description of their service, with some stories of their experiences. Dinner was served by the Rosemont Builder’s Club members who also decorated the room with patriotic banners to thank the veterans for their service.

The dinner was held at St. Luke’s of the Mountains Episcopal Church in La Crescenta where the Kiwanis Club meets each month on the second and fourth Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to join these meetings to see what Kiwanis is doing for the Crescenta Valley. www.montroselacrescentakiwanis.org
