Following a gala dinner at the Oakmont Country Club, the Kiwanis Club of La Cañada installed James A. Philips, principal of Pacific Investment Advisory Company, as its 2012-13 president. Philips is a long time resident of La Cañada Flintridge and a USC MBA Finance graduate. He has been active in the La Cañada Chamber of Commerce and the Tournament of Roses and his children, James, Camille, and Amanda, attended La Cañada schools. He is an active member of the St. Bede the Venerable Roman Catholic Church community and is married to Peggy Touchstone, a notable member of the entertainment community. He was previously a member of the Kiwanis Club of Glendale. He joined the local club in February 2009 and assumed the presidency of the La Cañada Flintridge noon club from Mary Gant.

The club also installed new officers and directors for the coming year.

The Noon Kiwanis Club, with 99 members, meets weekly on Wednesdays at Van de Kamp Hall at Descanso Gardens for a luncheon meeting.
