The Verdugo Glen chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) announced Naomi Bennett of Valley Village, who is studying for her fine arts master’s degree at California State University Los Angeles (CSULA), as the recipient of a national $1,500 scholarship.

Bennett was selected by the association’s Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund trustees for her academics, extracurricular activities, work experience and future goals. At CSULA, with a fellow student, she reinstated a student theatrical organization and is the current president of this group. The company has been successful in three productions including fundraising campaign and is currently planning an Improv Theater Festival in 2013.

She was recently awarded the Hollywood Foreign Press award, ASI Student Achievement Scholarship, and the Graduate Studies RSCA Scholarship research scholarship as she continues to pursue her goal of teaching performing arts at the university level.

The Verdugo Glen chapter meets monthly on the fourth Wednesday for a dinner business meeting and professional development programs at the Glendale Elks, 120 E. Colorado, Glendale. For information, call (818) 842-8626.
