Christopher Lee of La Cañada Flintridge participated in Berklee College of Music’s 2012 commencement held recently in Boston at Boston University’s Agganis Arena. Lee received a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the president of Berklee College of Music, Roger Brown. Brown presented honorary doctor of music degrees to the Eagles, 27-time Grammy Award winner Alison Krauss, and innovative Ethiopian musician Mulatu Astatke.
Berklee’s class of 2012 included more than 900 students graduating with bachelor of music degrees or professional diplomas.
The Berklee curriculum focuses on practical career preparation for today’s music industry.
Berklee College of Music announced the following students earned placement on the dean’s list for the spring semester of the 2012 academic year:
Matthew Witler of La Crescenta and Jacob Sirof of La Cañada Flintridge.
To be eligible for the dean’s list, a full-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or above; a part-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.6 or above.
Local students who participated in the summer program at Purdue University include: Daniel Kang of Tujunga, Ryan Kim of Glendale, Heather Bodell of La Crescenta, and Christian Smissen of La Crescenta.
Summer Transition, Advising and Registration (STAR) is Purdue’s program for new undergraduate students to receive academic advice and create their initial course schedule. Incoming students select their one-day STAR session and come to Purdue’s West Lafayette campus to conduct this and other important business.
Justin Howard Beirold, grandson of Marie Mull of Glendale, has been selected to become a member of The National Society of Leadership and Success, Sigma Alpha Pi, at Cabrillo College.
Sigma Alpha Pi is a leadership honor society (not a fraternity/sorority) and available only to a limited member of students on campus.
Justin’s candidacy for the society is a nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction.
