The Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge Bridge Club recently celebrated the 100th birthday of one of its bridge players. Wendy Hobson turned 100 on June 2. On June 23 she was presented with a certificate from Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich acknowledging the milestone and for witnessing dramatic historical events.
Hobson has been playing cards since 1933 while she was a student at UCLA.
When asked how she felt, she replied, “It’s just a number. I feel more like 65.”
The CCLCF Bridge Club invites anyone in the foothill area who is an experienced player to join the club on Mondays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. All the players bring their lunch and sometimes other goodies to share with one another.
“The Bridge Club is very welcoming and all the players have a passion for the game,” executive director Maureen Bond said. “They are very thankful they have a place to meet, play bridge and develop new friendships.”
The Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge is located at 4469 Chevy Chase Drive, La Cañada Flintridge. For more information visit: www.cclcf.org.
