Emeritus Casa Glendale assisted living has changed its name to Brookdale Glendale. On the surface it may seem like a simple rebranding, but when you dig deeper it becomes clear this change is a way of bringing consistency and a family feeling of unity to its present and future senior residents.

Residents were informed of the name change in advance and, aside from the name, little has changed.

“Everything has gone very smoothly,” said Janet Feely, executive director of Brookdale Glendale.

Brookdale Glendale offers independent living for those who need minor assistance and assisted living for those who require a little more care. The facility is certified for assisted living so if a resident’s status changes from independent to needing more assistance, they can stay in their same room.

This type of consistency is a working philosophy at Brookdale Glendale. Once a resident gets settled, it is easier to transition as they age when they are in familiar surroundings.

“We have 104 residents at [Brookdale Glendale], ” Feely said. The facility capacity is 113.

Brookdale Glendale provides an inviting, comforting atmosphere for its residents.

“Most [facilities] I have [worked at] have been on major, busy streets,” Feely said. “This is very cozy and very homey. I love the setting.”

The facility is on a cul-de-sac in a neighborhood close to a park, which is wonderful for those residents who have dogs. Brookdale Glendale is pet friendly.

“We have a lot of residents with dogs. How lovely is it for them to [take their dog] to the park?” she added.

The residents also like the area because it is familiar as many are from Glendale and Crescenta Valley.

About two years ago Casa Glendale was part of a Brookdale merger. The other facilities within the company of senior living facilities have all had name changes that incorporate the Brookdale title. The name change in Glendale is a way to maintain consistency so if a resident needs more assistance than is provided at Brookdale Glendale they can transfer to another home within the Brookdale family.

Brookdale Glendale is located at 426 Piedmont in Glendale.
