Dr. Emil Avanes, founder of Harmony Health in Sparr Heights, was recognized by the Western Diocese at its Twelfth Annual Christmas Dinner and Dance in Burbank in December. Avanes was one of 10 professionals recognized for their contributions to the local American and Armenian communities.

Avanes came to the United States from Urmi, Iran as a young boy. He is a graduate of Burbank High School and Chicago Medical School.
